Boli Bolingoli blunder as Celtic outcast gifts Manchester United a penalty with rash challenge

It appears there'll be no repeat of a famous win over Manchester United for Boli Bolingoli and his Istanbul Basaksehir team-mates.

The Turkish side, who stunned the Red Devils in the reverse Champions League fixture earlier in November, have taken a heavy first-half beating in a lively contest at Old Trafford.

A double from Bruno Fernandes and a penalty from Marcus Rashford put Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's side in full control with just over 30 minutes played.

The Celtic left-back, on-loan in Turkey after his Covid-19 misdemeanour, was caught on the hop with a darting run in behind from Rashford.

A long ball over the top set the pair off in a foot race in which the striker came out on top.

Rashford's next touch took him across Bolingoli and the Belgian came crashing into the England international, sending him flying to the deck.

Rashford picked himself up to tuck away from 12 yards to all-but end the match as a contest.

Bolingoli was among his side's heroes when Basaksehir thoroughly outplayed Solksjaer's side last time out.

Goals from Demba Ba and Edin Visca put paid to the Premier League giants but it looks highly likely they're going to exact emphatic revenge.
