The human figure has always been a common subject of visual art. Canadian-born Chinese photographer and painter Norm Yip has nailed this in his latest photo exhibition, titled "Beyond Skin By Norm Yip", held at RCB Photographer's Gallery, 2nd floor, River City Bangkok, from April 10 until May 31.

The Hong Kong-based artist's thought-provoking insight into the Asian male form and lifestyle is riveting in its boldness and sensuality capturing the male physique at its most vulnerable.
This exhibition, a collaboration with collector and curator James Tong, was brought together to raise awareness and support for the right of LGBT persons to marry.
At the end of last year, the Thai cabinet approved a civil-partnership bill, which next will go to the National Legislative Assembly. If passed, this will pave the way for Thailand to become the first country in Asia to endorse same-sex marriage.
Yip, a visual artist, believes in the power of personal creativity for self-edification and the evolution of the soul. Using the simple tools of a camera and canvas, the artist has found a means of expression that is both personal and emotional.
The exhibition features 25 photographs taken over a 20-year period, from 1999 until the present. One of the most memorable images to date for Yip is titled Milkboy.
He said the idea for this came to him over the course of several months and was partly inspired by Richard Avedon's Swarm.

Everyone kept silent when suddenly Derek lost his composure and burst into laughter. This was the resulting shot."
The globally acclaimed photographer is recognised for being an avid pioneer in the development of fine art in Asian male photography. During the course of his career, he established the Asian Male Project, which, through his lens, presents artistic images and thought-provoking messages.
His expertise with light and shadow, combined with his passion for the classical form, culminates in a superb collection of artistically photographic masterpieces by the veteran photographer.
