Bold Street's Maray is closing this month but it's not bad news

A popular Liverpool restaurant is closing next week, but it’s not bad news.

Maray on Bold Street will close its doors on Monday, January 27 for three days to undergo a refurbishment.

The restaurant, which opened in 2014, serves a Middle Eastern-inspired menu serving a diverse selection of vegetarian, vegan and meat and fish small plates.

Maray announced the news on Twitter, advising customers that the restaurant would reopen for lunch on January 30.

The full post read: “Bold Street will be closing for three days for a small renovation - closing Monday, January 27 and reopening Thursday, January 30 for lunch.

“Bold St has been open for over five years now, we built this place on a shoestring and as such our bar we put in was never going to last forever!

Maray also has restaurants on Allerton Road and the Albert Dock. (LIVERPOOL ECHO)

“It has done us proud, but has taken as much battering as it’s going to take...we reckon 100,000 cocktails have been made on it!

“So the time has come to make our bar manager Mark Jackson’s dreams come true and install and brand new bar.

“This means we will be ripping out the old one (expect emotions to run high) and fitting a brand new one on Monday, Tuesday and Weds, expect some beautiful joinery and beautiful bar top.

“Our bar seats are some of the best and most popular seats in the restaurant, so they will return better than ever.

“Thank you to everyone that has sat there over the years and enjoyed a QVO, Agent Cooper or a Whip, if it could speak! The stories it would tell...Thank you for your patience! Love team Maray.”

Founded five years ago, by partners Thomas White, James Bates and Dominic Jones, Maray has racked up multiple culinary awards in its few years, and the restaurant plans to be back and “better than ever” on January 30.

Maray also has restaurants on Allerton Road and the Albert Dock.
