Bold new 'urban cottages' planned for waterfront development

These images offer a glimpse of how the bold 'urban cottages' set to take shape on a Wirral development site could look.

Housing provider Urban Splash shared the images of the "bold and innovative" homes, which it plans to build at the Wirral Waters East Float development.

East Float, a project by Urban Splash and Peel L&P, will create around 350 homes using a “bold and innovative” new approach.

Included in this figure is the colourful red-clad Row House homes, the first of which will launch for sale this spring.

This is just one part of Wirral Waters, with the overall project set to provide 13,500 homes over the next 25 years and potentially create up to 20,000 jobs.

Buyers of Row House homes will be able to choose from a range of options, including a rooftop terrace, to customise their properties.

Guy Ackernley, residential sales director at House by Urban Splash, said: “We are delighted to release another bold and innovative new housing typology – and are proud to be bringing it first to Merseyside.

“Urban Splash was founded in Merseyside, creating hundreds of thousands of square feet of workspace as well as city centre apartments in Liverpool.

“28 years on we’re immensely proud to be back in the region, introducing a totally new concept – just as we did back in the 1990s.”

The 'Row House' homes are designed to look like modern mews style homes, or ‘urban cottages'.

Mr Ackernley added: “This product challenges design convention and something we believe will redefine the concept of new build living – we’re creating a series of homes which combine state-of-the-art materials and construction with a lifestyle enhancing design.”

The 'urban cottages' come in a choice of three sizes - two storey, two and a half storey with a roof terrace, and three storey, with a main suite.
