Bohs star Danny Mandroiu is still in Ireland Under-21s plans says Keith Andrews

Bohs star Danny Mandroiu has been assured he is still in the frame for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.

Signed from Brighton over the winter, the classy midfielder, 20, has made an immediate impression on the League of Ireland.

He came off the bench in Ireland’s opening game of their Under-21 European Championship qualifying campaign.

But Stephen Kenny did not pick Mandroiu for the Toulon Tournament which kicks-off in France tomorrow.

"Danny has been brilliant and has really impressed me and was in the equation for the Toulon trip,” said Irish U21 assistant and ex-international Keith Andrews.

“He has taken to the League really well and received plaudits and rightly so. Ability wise he is outstanding and we’ve all seen what he can do with a football with his passing

"That was the case at Brighton as well but for whatever reason it didn’t work out. Danny has gone into an environment where he hasn’t sulked.

“Players are constantly at him and on his back but that first-team element has brought the best out of him - and I hope he can keep it up."
