Bohs job attracts interest from manager with English Football League experience

But one man who is keen to speak with the Phibsboro side is a Dubliner with experience managing in the English Football League.

Former Bray Wanderers player Graham Coughlan (47) has taken charge at Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town.

And after opting out of a potential appointment at League Two basement boys Rochdale in recent weeks, Coughlan is set to put his name forward for the Dalymount Park post.

His first senior managerial post came midway through the 2018/19 campaign and he guided Bristol Rovers out of the relegation zone to safety and a 15th placed finish.

After a bright start to the 2019/20 season, they were fourth in the table when he left for family reasons.

Most recently he was Under-23 coach at Sheffield United, a role he was given off the back of his recruitment and youth development work during previous coaching spells.

Coughlan’s playing career took him from Bray to Blackburn in 1995, and then onto Swindon, Livingston, Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley, Rotherham, Shrewsbury and Southend.

Speaking recently to the Irish Daily Star, he admitted that he would love to return to Ireland and work in the League of Ireland, where he played under Pat Devlin.

“I’d love to have a go at home and see what Ireland is like,” he said.

“The timing would have to be right, but I’d love to have a go and help kids forge my pathway and get across here if they can.

“It would be great to pass on that little bit of experience I’ve gained over here.”
