Bohemians to host unique screening of George Best film at Dalymount Park

Bohemians will host a screening of a unique movie celebrating George Best, 50 years on from him taking to the Phibsboro field in a charity game.

Best, then a reigning European champion with Manchester United and one of the sport's biggest stars, played twice in Ireland that year, as United also took on Waterford as part of their European Cup defence.

The Belfast man would also take in a League of Ireland stint towards the end of his career at Cork Celtic.

The movie in question, Fußball Wie Noch Nie (Football As Never Before) is a documentary centred on Best's performance for Manchester United against Coventry City on September 12, 1970.

The movie, by German director Hellmuth Costard, contains no commentary and no voice over, instead focusing simply on Best's every move from minute one to ninety.

And the movie will be screened alongside a brand new score composed by Dublin musician Matthew Nolan on Dalymount's turf on July 4.

Tickets for the unique event cost €15 for non-Bohs members.
