Bohemians kickstart festive toy drive for children in Direct Provision

Bohemians are appealing for donations as their fourth annual Christmas toy drive for children living in Direct Provision gets underway ahead of the festive season.

The club have collaborated with DHL and Bang Bang Café in Phibsborough with the aim of raising €75,000 by the end of November. This total would cover the cost of giving every child in Ireland living in Direct Provision a Christmas gift.

DHL will deliver the Christmas presents free of charge the week before Christmas.

This is the fourth year of the Bohemians initiative and it has yielded increasing success year on year; in its first year, it raised enough money for a gift for every child in a Clondalkin centre.

The following year, enough money was raised to produce 500 gifts for children across different centres.

In 2020, although the gift drop-off could not take place due to heightening Covid-19 problems, €60,000 was instead raised in online donations.

Bohs' Chief Operating Officer Daniel Lambert has outlined that those interested in helping the cause can donate via the gofundme page or alternatively drop gifts off at Dalymount Park or Bang Bang Café.
