Bohemians beat Peamount United to signing of creative midfielder Ciara Maher

Bohemians have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Ciara Maher as they continue their preparations for the 2022 WNL season.

The Tallaght native makes the move following a three-year stint at DLR Waves and is the third new signing for Sean Byrne’s side following the arrival of Katie Burdis and Rachael Kelly.

Left-back Burdis also made the move from Waves after spending the bulk of her senior career in South Dublin, while ex-Shels keeper Kelly signed up after a spell in Sweden with P18 IK.

Maher is the eighth signing of the season at Dalymount Park after defenders Isobel Finnegan, Katie Lovely, Yvonne Hedigan and Abbie Brophy joined striker Lisa Murphy in signing on.

21-year-old Maher had been expected to sign with Peamount United, with whom she made her WNL debut in 2018, but has instead made the move across the Liffey to Bohs.

Maher scored three goals in all competitions for Waves last season, including a goal in the 3-0 FAI Cup win over Bohs in August.

Her time at Waves was beset by injury, however, and she will hope to kick on at full fitness as she dons the black and red of Bohs.
