Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers dominate PFAI Team of the Year selection

Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers dominate the selections for the PFAI Premier Division Team of the Year with seven of the 11 selected coming from the bitter rivals.

Bohs top the list with four players in the selection, with three from Rovers and one from St Patrick's Athletic, with one each from Dundalk, Derry City and Drogheda United making up the list.

Gypsies keeper James Talbot, midfielder Dawson Devoy and forwards Liam Burt and Georgie Kelly, the league's top scorer, head up the contingent from north of the Liffey.

The Phibsboro club face St Patrick's Athletic in an all-Dublin FAI Cup final on Sunday as they look to book their place in Europe after missing out on a top-four finish.

Rovers defenders Roberto Lopes and Liam Scales, and striker Rory Gaffney, also feature, as does the Athletic's playmaker Chris Forrester.

Derry defender Ronan Boyce, Dundalk midfielder Will Patching, who has joined Derry ahead of the 2022 season after spending the first half of the 2021 on loan, and Drogheda captain James Brown make up the 11.

Kelly, Lopes and Forrester are nominated for PFAI Player of the Year, while Devoy is up with Bohs teammate Ross Tierney and UCD's Collie Whelan for the Young Player of the Year gong.
