Bogus workers targeted an elderly resident in Kilmarnock.
Men falsely claiming to provide gardening work went to the home of an 84-year-old woman on Wallace View, Riccarton, on Monday, December 2.
They asked her for money and then stole more cash when they gained access to the property.
The men are described as white with local accents and aged around 30 to 40.
PC Craig Marshall told the Kilmarnock Standard: “We would encourage people if they are looking to have work carried out to get quotes from a reputable company and chose the cheapest quote.
“If they are concerned about suspicious behaviour they should contact police on 101.”
