Bogus customers steal caravan from seller's driveway

A man and woman are being hunted by police after brazen thieves posing as buyers stole a caravan from a Merseyside driveway.

Merseyside Police issued CCTV stills of the pair who they believe "may be able to assist" their probe.

Police say the caravan, a white 4 Berth Caravelair Osiris 2006 Single Axle, had been advertised prior to it being stolen from outside the house in Rainhill.

After pretending they wanted to buy the vehicle the thieves stole it at around 6pm on Tuesday, July 13 from the driveway on Holt Lane.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We have issued images of a man and woman detectives believe may be able to assist enquiries into the theft of a caravan.

"At around 6pm on Tuesday 13 July a caravan was stolen from a driveway on Holt Lane.

"The caravan, a white 4 Berth Caravelair Osiris 2006 Single Axle, had been advertised for sale but no payment was received by the owner after it was taken.

"An investigation is underway and detectives are appealing for the man and woman pictured, or anyone who recognises them, to come forward."

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered the caravan for sale, or who have any information on the whereabouts of the caravan.

Inspector Alyson Keenan said: “Enquiries have been carried out to identify the two people in the images as we believe they have information which is vital to our investigation.

“I would appeal to anyone who recognises them or knows of their whereabouts to contact us.”
