Bogus caller entered homes of two women in Clydebank after claiming to work for water board

Two women have been targeted by a bogus caller who entered their homes in Clydebank after claiming to be working on the waterworks in the area.

The first incident occurred at around 3.15pm on Monday, June 3 on Parkhall Terrace and the second at 10.40am on Tuesday June 4 at a Dumbarton Road property.

The woman have described the man as white, in his 40s with short grey hair and was wearing glasses.

Once the man left, both women reported the incidents to the police.

Police Scotland are now warning the public to be on their guard following the offences and caling for anyone with any information to come forward.

Sergeant Calum Fulton from Clydebank Police Office, said: "There may be other people in the Clydebank area who have been approached by this man or who may have seen him and I would appeal to them to come forward to police.

"If you have had someone at your door recently that you were unsure of, or if a relative has informed you of an incident, we would like to hear from you."

Officers have also issued a reminder to the public to always ask for identification if anyone comes to the door before closing the door and contacting the company to check that they are genuine. If in doubt - contact the police. Always use a door chain to ensure they cannot gain entry until you are satisfied with their identity

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police via 101 or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
