Bogged driver charged over NSW bushfire

A driver who allegedly became bogged in rural NSW and then lit a bushfire has been charged. (AAP)

A driver whose bogged vehicle was allegedly found at a northern NSW bushfire's point of origin has been charged.

The bushfire near Grawin destroyed about 218 hectares - roughly three-quarters the size of Sydney's CBD - after starting on November 21.

Firefighters took 10 days to put out the blaze, which police say threatened the township of Grawin.

The man, 53, has been charged by Walgett police with intentionally lighting a fire and being reckless as to its spread.

He was due to face Walgett Local Court on Friday.
