Bogdan Mykhaylichenko claims Rangers transfer snub as midfielder reveals tough signing decision

Midfielder Bogdan Mykhaylichenko claims he rejected a move to Rangers to sign for Anderlecht instead.

The 23-year-old Ukrainian international left homeland club Zorya Luhansk in a £500,000 move to the Belgians.

The former Dynamo Kiev star has insisted he snubbed the opportunity to join Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

He said: "There was quite a lot of interest in me this summer.

"Rangers made clear they were interested in me so that was an option and so were Werder Bremen, but Anderlecht were the most persistent.

"Dynamo Kiev also wanted me to return to them, but I think Anderlecht was the best option for me."

Mykhaylichenko has made a solid start with Vincent Kompany's side and has been an ever-present for the Brussels club from which Rangers signed Kemar Roofe during the summer.

Midfield is an area the Ibrox side remain keen to strengthen and the club have expressed interest in Preston North End's Daniel Johnson.

But there's been no deal struck as yet to take the 27-year-old north to the Scottish Premiership as Gerrard looks to add a more dynamic element to his engine room.
