Body Worlds exhibition offers free tickets to customers who missed out when Bristol event was cancelled

People who were left out of pocket after paying to attend a ‘copycat’ human bodies exhibition in Bristol that was suddenly cancelled have been offered free tickets to the real deal.

The Real Human Bodies exhibition was expected to take place at City Hall over the weekend and dozens of people had purchased tickets online for the event.

But last week Bristol Live reported the event had been cancelled after it was revealed that the organisers did not have the correct licence for the venue.

The organisers have also pulled previous events in Portsmouth, Southampton and Brighton for similar reasons.

There were claims the event may have been a “scam” following reports that a number of people who purchased tickets for the exhibition - across all four cities - had been unable to contact the organisers and get a refund.

Complaints were made to Action Fraud and PayPal by customers hoping to get their cash back, but some ticket holders have reported getting refunds.

But now Body Worlds in London, which shows real human bodies preserved through Dr Gunther von Hagens’ patented plastination technique, is offering free tickets to customers who had been “let down by a cancelled tour of the copycat exhibition”.

The flagship museum in Piccadilly Circus, London, has been open since October last year and takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the human body, with over 200 exhibits and interactive displays available to explore over three floors.

Peter Tabernal, CEO of Body Worlds, said: “Body Worlds London has no connection with Real Human Bodies but were saddened to hear about those disappointed customers who sadly didn’t get the experience they paid for.

“We hope that by offering free tickets to our wonderful and insightful museum in London, we can give visitors a great day out learning all about the human body in a fun and educational way.

“We are the real deal and aim to give our visitors the best possible experience. Come and see for yourselves.”

In order to claim your free ticket customers need to hand in their original ticket and proof of payment at the Body Worlds London box office from now until August 31.

They will be granted free access to the exhibition on the next available time slot, subject to availability.
