Body tragically found in search for missing pensioner David Cunningham

A body has tragically been found during the search for a missing pensioner.

David Cunningham, 70, was last seen leaving his family home in Oakridge Crescent, Dunboyne, Co Meath on Monday morning.

Gardai had issued an appeal to the public for help in their search for Mr Cunningham, who was described as 5' 10" in height, of slim build and blue eyes.

Tragically, the search was stood down on Tuesday after the discovery of a body.

It is understood that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A garda spokesman said: "The missing person search for David Cunningham has been stood down following the discovery of a body.

"We would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this matter.

"No further action is required and no further information is being made available."
