Body & Soul Festival announce extra acts to this year's line-up

Festival bosses have announced an additional 31 acts will play at this year’s Body & Soul Festival.

Among those added to the bill today are Choice Music Prize winner Denise Chaila, acclaimed Dublin rapper Kojaque, Dublin post-punk rockers The Murder Capital and unapologetic Belfast hip-hop trio Kneecap.

The weekend festival, which takes place from 16 June to 18 June 2023 at Ballinlough Castle Estate in Westmeath, also announced popular folk duo Ye Vagabonds, singer-songwriter Ailbhe Reddy, Dublin noise rockers Thumper, alt-folk musician Junior Brother and Kerry singer Efa O’Neill.

Also newly added to the bill are a diverse range of international acts including: DJ extraordinaire The Blessed Madonna; former lead guitarist of The War On Drugs, Kurt Vile & The Violators; indie singer-songwriter Beth Orton; and drum and bass pioneers Fabio & Grooverider, who will be bringing a spectacular audiovisual show complete with orchestra to Westmeath as part of the Hennessy Music Trail.

They will join previously announced acts including headliners Moderat, Gilles Peterson, Shanti Celeste, BCUC and Irish singer-songwriters Sorcha Richardson and Aoife Nessa Frances at this year's festival.

The theme of this year's three-day festival is 'community', with a dedicated programme that will spotlight creative and community groups through performances, workshops, talks and panels – in addition to a jam-packed music schedule.

Brand new for 2023 are the Sanctuary Stage and Pamper Gardens, a place to unwind after the festivities featuring yoga classes, holistic therapies, seaweed baths, saunas and sound baths.

The Woodlands, a festival favourite, will host large-scale immersive environments fusing sculpture, installation art, performance and sound, along with a heaving party at the Cabin in the Woods and the Dark & Stormy cocktail bar.

The Hennessy House will celebrate 50 years of hip-hop music and culture with DJs, MCs, artists, dancers and spoken word poets, whilst The Orchard offers a home for the curious - featuring emerging acts and established artists across cabaret, theatre, comedy and culture.

Returning last year after a two-year break, Body & Soul has reimagined itself as a 'smaller, boutique festival with a carefully curated atmosphere', with just 5,000 weekend tickets available.

The weekend festival is strictly over 21s, but families with children aged 13 and below are also welcome for the 2023 event.

Weekend camping tickets from €239 are now available from the Body & Soul website.
