Body Shop announces closure of Nottingham store after 32 years

Another shop has closed down on the street leading up to Broadmarsh in Nottingham city centre. A notice has been posted in the window of The Body Shop, the cruelty-free beauty company known for its cosmetics, skin care and perfume, in Albert Street.

It says: "We are now sadly closed after 32 years of trading on Albert Street. Thank you to all our lovely customers that have shopped and supported us. We will miss you, team Albert Street."

Nine staff were employed there and the sign lists them by name: Laura, Jen, Julie, Libby, Mikki, Millie, Ayesha, Hannah and Ellie. Fans of the brand, which made its name as the first global company to put an end to animal testing in cosmetics, can still buy their favourite products in the city centre at a second shop in Bridlesmith Gate, which remains open.

The property - yet to be listed by agents - is amongst a number of vacant shops on the street including the former Carphone Warehouse and Sketchers. The street leads to Lister Gate, which has suffered a number of closures since the pandemic including Boots, WH Smith, River Island and Thorntons.
