Body recovered from water in Dublin city centre as gardai investigate circumstances

Gardai are investigating "all circumstances" after a body was recovered from the water in Dublin city centre today.

The tragic discovery was made at George's Dock at around 11.15am.

The body of a man, of whose age is currently unknown, was found in the water surrounding the popular spot, Dublin Live reports.

The investigation remains underway and a post mortem is scheduled to take place.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the recovery of a body from Georges Dock, Dublin 1 this morning, Saturday 18th July, 2020.

"At approximately 11.15am Gardaí and emergency services recovered the body of a male, age unknown, from the water. His body has since been removed from the scene and taken to Dublin City Morgue for post mortem.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
