Body recovered from river at Falls of Clyde thought to be missing Ayrshire man

A body found in the river at the Falls of Clyde is thought to be that of a missing Ayrshire man.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Corehouse, Lanark, on Thursday afternoon after being alerted to the grim discovery at around 1.45pm.

The man is yet to be formally identified but the family of Murray Tanner, 48, who was reported missing from Muirkirk in Ayrshire on Monday, August 23 has been informed.

Members of the public reported seeing several police, ambulance and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service vehicles all in the area near the Bonnington Hydro-electric Power Station for several hours on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland told Lanarkshire Live : "There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
