Body recovered from Pembrokeshire beach in search for missing woman Susan Smith

The family of a missing woman has been informed after a body was found at a Pembrokeshire beach.

Dyfed Powys Police said officers working on the search for Susan Smith, who was last seen on Saturday, February 27, had recovered a body from a beach near Solva.

A major land and sea search was instigated after the disappearance of Mrs Smith, with the coastguard, RNLI, and mountain rescue teams all helping to try and find the 62-year-old woman.

She was last seen walking in the Carmarthen Bay Holiday Village, near Kidwelly, at around 1.30pm on the Saturday, and was known to walk along the beach to St Ishmaels and Ferryside.

A statement from the force said: "We can confirm that officers working on the search for missing woman Susan Smith have recovered a body from a beach near Solva in Pembrokeshire.

"Mrs Smith’s family has been made aware of the situation, however, formal identification is yet to take place.

"At this time there is no reason to suggest any suspicious circumstances."
