A TEENAGE boy has died after getting into trouble in the River Kelvin in Glasgow.
A major search operation was launched at around 6.40pm on Saturday evening after police received reports of a boy in the water near Maryhill Road in the west end.
Around five hours later, the body of a male was recovered from the water, police said.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.40pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025, a search and rescue operation was launched following a report of a 15-year-old male in the River Kelvin, near Maryhill Road, Glasgow.
"Emergency services attended, and around 11.30pm the body of a male was recovered from the water.
"Enquiries are ongoing; however, the death is not being treated as suspicious."
Earlier on Saturday, a 63-year-old woman was reported to have died after a fall near to waterfalls at Campsie Glen, with emergency services called at around 12.35pm.
It comes amid a heatwave across Scotland, with temperatures in Glasgow hitting the high 20s.
Fire chiefs have urged people to stay safe as they warned of the increased risk of wildfires and drowning, with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) asking people not to enter water to try to cool down and urging parents and carers to ensure children are supervised around water at all times.
HM Coastguard also issued safety advice, as data from the water incident database shows most drownings happened in July over the last three years.
