Body recovered from canal in Clydebank as police investigation into death underway

A police investigation is underway after a body was recovered from the Forth & Clyde Canal this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near Kirkwood Avenue in the Linnvale area of Clydebank, after the alarm was raised at around 9.30am.

The death is being treated as ‘unexplained’ pending the outcome of a post mortem examination, the Daily Record reports.

A report will also be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

No details about the deceased individual's age or gender have yet been revealed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the paper: “Police Scotland can confirm that a body was recovered from a canal near Kirkwood Avenue, Clydebank around 9.30am on Friday, May 28.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending the result of a post mortem examination.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
