Body pulled from Forth and Clyde Canal in Clydebank as cops probe unexplained death

Police have launched an investigation after a body was pulled from the Forth and Clyde Canal in Clydebank.

Emergency services were called to the scene, near Kirkwood Avenue, after the alarm was raised at around 9.30am on Friday.

Officers are currently treating the death as ‘unexplained’ pending the outcome of a post mortem examination.

No further details about the person’s gender or age have yet been released by investigators.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a body was recovered from a canal near Kirkwood Avenue, Clydebank around 9.30am on Friday, May 28.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending the result of a post mortem examination.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
