Body parts found near to block of flats are NOT human remains, police confirm

Body parts found near to a block of flats in Bolton are not human, police have confirmed.

Detectives launched an investigation after discovering 'possible body parts' near to Poplar Avenue, in Horwich, at about 4pm on Sunday.

At the time, Greater Manchester Police said the nature of the discovery was unclear.

A scene remained in place for several hours while the body parts were examined by pathologists.

Pictures from the scene showed police officers using torches to search a fenced off area behind some flats.

This morning, a GMP spokesperson confirmed the remains were not those of a human.

It is not yet clear which animal the body parts come from.

The force spokesperson said: "The body parts found are now confirmed to be animal, and there's no evidence of any criminality."
