KURUKSHETRA: The police have recovered the naked body of a young woman (aged between 25 to 30 years) from sludge in a jungle area along the National Highway (NH) 44 near Pratapgarh village in Kurukshetra district on Saturday.

The police said the identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. The deceased woman has a tattoo of "Pooja" written in English on her left arm, said Thanesar Sadar police station house officer (SHO) sub-inspector (SI) Ravinder.

SI Ravinder said their team received information from Dial-112 service from village Sarpanch, about the body of a woman. He said any belongings of the woman were not recovered from the spot.

He said the body has been kept at the mortuary for 72 hours at the district civil hospital as per the procedure of identification. He said efforts are being made to identify the woman.

The SHO denied installation of any CCTV camera near the spot or on the NH-44, from where the body has been recovered.

He said once the woman is identified, further action would be taken as per the complaint received from her family members.
