Body of young man found in Peterlee wood not thought to be suspicious

The body of a young man has been discovered in a wooded area in Peterlee.

Police officers were called to the fields behind Olaman Walk in the County Durham town early on Sunday.

The body of a 20-year-old man was found, and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "We can confirm police attended the sudden death of a 20-year-old man in a wooded area near to Olaman Walk, Peterlee at around 8am on Sunday morning.

"The death is being treated as non-suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
