A post mortem examination is to be held later on Friday on a woman whose body was recovered from the sea on Achill Island, Co Mayo on Thursday evening.
The woman, who was in her forties, went missing while walking in the Dooagh area Thursday afternoon.
A major air and sea search was mounted by Achill Island Coast Guard, R118 rescue helicopter, Achill Island lifeboat, gardai and members of the local community.
The remains were removed late last night to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar where a post mortem examination will be held later today.
It is understood that the deceased woman was married and lived in the local Achill area.
