Body of woman in 70s found at Ilkeston nature reserve, police confirm

The body of a woman has been found at a nature reserve in Ilkeston. The woman, aged in her 70s, was discovered by a member of the public in the water at Straws Bridge Nature Reserve, off the A609 High Lane End, on the border of Ilkeston and West Hallam, just after 7.40am on Monday, June 26.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service. Police, who were called to the scene, have launched an investigation into her death.

The force does not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. Anyone who lives in the area and may have witnessed something is being asked to contact Derbyshire Police, quoting reference number 23*391272.
