Body of woman found on Scots beach as cops launch probe

A woman's body has been found on a beach in Aberdeen today.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the Footdee, known as Fittie, area of the city at around 8.20am after the discovery this morning.

The beach was cleared by cops and surfers were called back to dry land after the find.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the lady's death.

A local source said: "Police cordoned at Fittie, cleared the beach and asked surfers to come back in.

"Unfortunately there’s a body been found at the beach. Very sad."

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal following the discovery.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.20am on Wednesday, 30 December, the body of a woman was discovered on the beach in Aberdeen.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
