A woman’s body has been discovered on the M4 motorway this morning.
South Wales Police were called to an incident on the stretch of road between junctions 47 and 48, between Penllergaer and Hendy, shortly after 4.30am.
The motorway was closed in both directions for several hours, with traffic diversions put in place, causing long queues.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: “Officers are investigating the sudden death of a woman whose body was located on the carriageway.
“The motorway has since reopened."
