Body found in Leigh Woods near Bristol after major search

The body of a woman was found near Bristol last night.

Emergency services, including a police helicopter, fire and ambulance crews, attended Leigh Woods after a call was made at 8.20pm (Wednesday, April 21).

Avon and Somerset Police do not think the death is suspicious, and the woman has now been identified.

Officers are attempting to contact her next of kin.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Emergency services attended Leigh Woods near Bristol after a call at about 8.20pm on Wednesday April 21 reporting the discovery of a body.

"Police, supported by fire and ambulance crews and the National Police Air Service sadly found the body of a woman.


"The death is not believed to be suspicious. Enquiries continue at the scene this morning, Thursday April 22, as officers work to identify the woman.
