Body of woman found in town park in early hours of the morning

The body of woman has been found in a park in Oldham in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to the discovery in Werneth Park, Greater Manchester, and found the body of a woman believed to be in her 40s.

People in the area described a large police presence in the park.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a filed will be passed to the coroner.

The identity of the woman has not been revealed by Greater Manchester Police.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police has told the Manchester Evening News: "Police responded at around 1.25am this morning (Tuesday 30 June 2020) following the discovery of the body of a woman in Werneth park, Oldham.

"Officers attended and sadly found the body of a woman believed to be in her 40s.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner."
