The body of a woman has been discovered in a flat above a pub in a popular tourist town.
The deceased, believed to be Polish, was found at an address on Castlebar Road in Westport, Co Mayo, this afternoon.
The woman is believed to have been living in the apartment for some time.
A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a woman in an apartment on Castlebar Street, Westport, Co Mayo on Saturday afternoon.
“A post mortem will take place and the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.”
The investigation is ongoing, gardai added.
