Body of woman found in Dublin emergency accommodation as gardai 'investigating all circumstances'

The body of a woman understood to be staying in homeless accommodation in the capital was sadly discovered last night.

Gardai have said they are "investigating all circumstances" surrounding the death which happened at an apartment in Ballybough yesterday evening.

It is believed to be the second tragic death at the emergency accommodation unit in less than two weeks.

Inner City Helping Homeless' CEO and Dublin city councillor Anthony Flynn sent thoughts and prayers to both families affected last night.

He also called for the speeding up of a report due from the Minister for Housing on deaths within Ireland's homeless services.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances of the discovery of a body of a woman at an apartment on North William Street, Dublin 1 yesterday evening, 3 April 2021. The body of the deceased has been removed to Dublin City Mortuary."
