Body of woman found and seven-month-old baby dead in house in tragic Dublin incident

The body of a woman has been found and a seven-month-old baby has died following a tragic double death after an incident at a house in west Dublin this morning.

At around 3:45am, Gardai responded to reports of a pedestrian acting suspiciously at the M50 toll plaza bridge when officers discovered a woman's body at Lower Road near the Strawberry Beds.

After this horror find, Gardai rushed to a house in Lucan where a 7-month-old baby was found unresponsive and died at the scene a short time later.

Investigating Gardai are treating this as a family tragedy and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

The body of the infant has been removed to Crumlin Hospital and the woman's body has been taken to the City Morgue.

Gardai say the results of her post-mortem examinations will determine the course of their investigations.

A spokesman for Gardai told Dublin Live: "An incident room has be established at Lucan Garda Station and a Technical examination of the scene has taken place. The Coroner and Office of the State Pathologist have been notified.

"No further information is available at this time and investigations are ongoing."

He added: "The family of the Mother and Child have appealed for privacy at this sad time."
