The body of a woman in her 50s has been found in the sea off the coast of Co Wicklow.
The discovery was made near Arklow at around 5.45pm on Wednesday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her remains were taken to Loughlinstown Hospital ahead of a post mortem.
The Wicklow News reports that the woman is not believed to be from the local area.
A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: "Gardai are investigating the discovery of a body of a woman in her 50s from the sea of the coast of Arklow that occurred on July 3 at approximately 5:45pm.
"The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Loughlinstown Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
"The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation."
