Body of teenage boy found near Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh as cops launch probe

The body of a teenager has been found in a popular Scots park.

Police were called following reports from members of the public after the 18-year-old's body was discovered by walkers in Meadowfield Park, in Edinburgh which is situated below Arthur's Seat.

Officers said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but inquiries are continuing.

The park was cordoned off for some time this morning to allow investigations to take place.

A spokesman said: “Around 9.05am on Monday, 4 January, police were called to Meadowfield Park, Edinburgh.

"An 18 year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Police enquiries are ongoing, however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

"A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
