Body of Scots woman recovered from Falkirk river by police

Police Scotland have confirmed that the body of a woman has been recovered from the River Carron in Falkirk on Saturday November 20.

Officers say that the body of the woman was taken from the water at around 3:45pm and that a formal identification is still to take place.

The family of missing woman, Leanne Beattie, 36, who had been reported missing from River Street in Falkirk are understood to have been informed.

Police say that enquiries are ongoing in order to determine the exact cause of death but they did note that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland statement read: “At 3.45pm on Saturday, 20 November, the body of a woman was recovered from the River Carron adjacent to Beaumont Drive, Carron.

“Formal identification has still to take place, however the family of Leanne Beattie, 36, who had been reported missing from River Street, Falkirk, have been informed.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death which is not being treated as suspicious.

“A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
