Body of mob boss Dublin Jimmy believed to have been cremated in the UK

The body of Cyril “Dublin Jimmy” McGuinness is believed to have been cremated in the UK before his remains were brought back to Ireland.

McGuinness, who police believe masterminded the abduction and torture of Quinn Industrial Holdings director Kevin Lunney, took ill and died during a police raid at a house in England on November 8.

The opening of his inquest heard how he had suffered a “cardiac arrest” in the Derbyshire property which was one of a series of co-ordinated raids conducted by gardai and UK police.

s

Chesterfield coroner’s court was told McGuinness, who “already had a diseased heart”, collapsed after being handcuffed.

Police called an ambulance and started resuscitation but the 54-year-old, from Dublin, died around three hours later.

To date four people have been charged in connection with Mr Lunney’s abduction and attack.

A Garda probe into a campaign of intimidation targeting the former Sean Quinn-owned businesses continues.
