Body of missing Waterford man Leonard O'Neill found near river Suir

A body has been discovered during an ongoing search for a missing man who was last seen alive 12 days ago.

The remains were found along the river Suir, near Bilberry, Co Waterford at 10.45am on Saturday morning.

Gardaí believe that the body is that of Leonard O'Neill.

Mr O'Neill, aged 50, and from Ashley Court in Waterford city is believed to have slipped and fallen into the river at the Plaza area, less than a kilometre up river from where his body was located.

It's believed that choppy water caused overnight by Storm Hannah may have helped bring the body close to the surface of the Suir.
