Body of missing Sunderland man Gavin Sanderson found in Blackpool house

The body of a missing man from the North East has been found in Blackpool after police thought he was in Carlisle.

Gavin Sanderson, 40, was reported as missing on Thursday, May 27.

He was last seen in his home town of Sunderland but Cumbria Police believed he was in the Carlisle area, where he had links.

Sadly, Gavin's body has now been found at a property in Blackpool, LancashireLive reports.

The discovery was made on Bank Holiday Monday (June 1).

A short statement from Cumbria Police, released this afternoon, said: "Police can confirm that the body of Gavin Sanderson, 40, of Scruton Avenue, Sunderland was found at a property in Blackpool, on Monday 1st June.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
