Body of missing Hobart man Elson Kiddle found

Tasmania Police say they have located the body of 70-year-old Elson Robert Kiddle, who has been missing since last Friday.

They said they believed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

In a statement this afternoon, police said Mr Kiddle's body was found about 1:30pm by a team of foot searchers in bushland approximately 2.5km from Lumeah Avenue in Lenah Valley.

"This has been a very traumatic few days for his family, with a very sad ending today. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time," police said.

Mr Kiddle was last seen at his West Moonah home on Friday.

A large-scale air and ground search has been ongoing, and his ute was found in Lenah Valley on Monday.

Police said Mr Kiddle "may have been deceased for some days".

Police thanked those involved in the search for Mr Kiddle, "especially those volunteers, family and friends".

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
