Body of missing five-year-old boy recovered from Irish lake in County Mayo

The body of a missing five-year-old boy has been recovered from a lake in Ireland's County Mayo.

The child believed to have fallen out of a dinghy which drifted from the shoreline of Lough Mask at about 6.30pm on Monday, local media reported.

He was last seen near the Toormakeady side of the lake.

Police, the Coast Guard, Civil Defence, Lough Mask Water Rescue and local divers took part in a search operation launched in a bid to find the child.

A Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 118 from Sligo was also deployed

Officers have now confirmed that the body of the child was recovered from Lough Mask on Tuesday morning. His family are being supported by officers.
