Body of missing dad who vanished last week is found

The body of a dad who had been missing for five days has sadly been found.

Geoff Sutcliffe’s body was found in the Rixton area of Warrington at around 4pm yesterday.

The family of the 61-year-old, who went missing on Wednesday February 24th, have been informed and formal identification has taken place.

They are being supported by specialist officers.

In a statement Cheshire Police said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.

"Officers who had been searching for Geoff would like to thank members of the public for their support during the search and request that his family’s privacy be respected at this difficult time.

"The family would also like to thank the members of the public who helped with the search and have requested that any missing man posters regarding Geoff be taken down."

Mr Sutcliffe, left home in the Woolston area of Warrington on the morning of February 24th.

His daughter, Megan, had posted an appeal social media for help from the public in searching for him.
