The body of missing hiker Esther Dingley has been found more than eight months after she disappeared in the Pyrenees.
Ms Dingley, 37, was last seen on November 22 but went missing while walking solo in the mountains near the Spanish and French border.
Rescue teams have been searching for her ever since.
It has now been confirmed that her partner Daniel Colegate found her bode and equipment on Monday afternoon.
In a statement, the LBT Global charity, which provides support to the families of those who are missing, said: “A team of forensic specialists along with mountain rescue personnel were dispatched to the site in order to catalogue the scene and recover Esther.
“At this stage, an accident is the most likely hypothesis, given the location and other early indications. A full investigation is underway to confirm the details surrounding this tragedy.
“The family remain incredibly grateful for the efforts of the police units involved and their commitment to understanding the exact circumstances of Esther’s death.
“LBT Global are supporting Daniel and Esther’s mother, Ria, as they come to terms with this news.”
Ms Dingley's body was found close to where a bone was discovered two weeks ago.
After the bone was discovered DNA tests were carried out on it and it was determined to have belonged to Ms Dingley.
Mr Colegate and Ms Dingley met at Oxford University and lived in Durham before they set off travelling around Europe in a camper van six years ago.
