Body of missing 41-year-old Brynmawr man found in woodland

A body found in Blaina on Tuesday has been identified as a missing local man, Gwent Police has confirmed.

The man's body, found in woodland near Cwm-Celyn Road on March 23, has been identified as 41-year-old Simon David Jones from Brynmawr, police have confirmed.

Mr Jones had been reported missing to police on March 20, and his body was found by officers conducting a search of the area.

He has since been formally identified, and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A statement from Gwent Police said: "The body of a man has been found, following a search by officers, in woodland near Cwm-Celyn Road, Blaina on Tuesday, March 23.

"Following formal identification, the man has been confirmed as Simon David Jones, 41, from Brynmawr, who was reported missing on Saturday, March 20 to Gwent Police.

"Officers are not treating the death as suspicious and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Simon at this difficult time."
