THE body of a man has been recovered after a car went into the River Tay.
Emergency services were called to Tay Street in Perth at around 1.55pm on Saturday, following reports of a vehicle entering the water.
The body of a man was recovered from the car.
Police Scotland confirmed the man was believed to have been the only person in the car.
The force added that investigations are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.55pm on Saturday, July 5, police were called to Tay Street in Perth following a report that a car had gone into the river.
“Police and emergency services attended and recovered the body of a man from the vehicle.
“He is believed to have been the only person in the car.
“Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2pm on Saturday, July 5, to an incident near Tay Street, Perth.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a specialist resource to the scene to assist emergency service partners.”
Fire crews left the scene at around 5.15pm, STV News reports.
