Body of man pulled from River Clyde near Erskine Bridge

The body of a man has been pulled from the River Clyde near the this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at about 11am today with police in both directions.

A man's body was recovered following a search involving Police Scotland, HM Coastguard and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue into the incident.

The man has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ""Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde near the Erskine Bridge.  

"The man is yet to identified and enquiries and are ongoing to establish the full circumstances relating to this incident.

"Concerns were initially raised shortly before 11am and the man was recovered following a search involving Police Scotland, HM Coastguard and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

"The Erskine Bridge has now reopened to traffic in both directions and motorists are thanked for their patience."
